Hunters have been selected for the November Central Tract Lottery Hunt. Hunters have been notified via email. If you see your permit number below, but did not receive an email with your confirmation letter, please check your email spam folder. If you still can't find it, contact the HCS at hcs@mnha.net.
This is an afternoon hunt from 12:00 noon to 1/2 hour past sunset.
Firearms Hunters must use a shotgun with slugs or a straight walled rifle for this hunt. No other weapons are permitted.
Archery Hunters must use a bow or crossbow at the bow-only designated sites. No other weapons are permitted.
Primary Hunters must report to the Hunting Control Station between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM to check in. After you check in, please proceed to the Central Tract meeting area for a safety briefing (see below).
If you are unable to attend this hunt, please contact the Meade Natural Heritage Association Hunting Control Station at 301-328-1518 or email HCS@mnha.net by noon on November 14 so your site can be reassigned to an alternate hunter.
Alternate Hunters will be notified by phone if a site becomes available prior to the date of the hunt. If you are not contacted prior to the hunt, you may still have an opportunity to participate in the Central Tract hunt. All chosen alternate hunters who present themselves at the Hunting Control Station by 11:30 AM on the day of the hunt will be given the opportunity to fill any vacant hunting spots in order of lottery selection.
Standby Hunters may meet at the HCS by 11:30 AM. After all primary and alternate hunters have been assigned, any remaining vacant sites will be filled by eligible standby hunters. Selection of standby hunters will be by drawing.
Central Tract regulations require the use of a hunter-provided tree stand, a minimum of 10 feet off the ground, and a full body harness at all CT and MR sites. The only exception is if a disabled hunter is using a disabled hunter firearm site, then they are permitted to hunt from the ground. See Hunting Guidelines for additional information.
CT Lottery Hunters do not need MD Shooter Qualification to particpate. This hunt follows the PRR rules - no qualification card required.
CT meeting area directions. Use: 1 Beech Forest Rd, Laurel, MD or American Holly Drive, Laurel, MD in your navigation system. After passing the entrance gate, proceed on American Holly Drive and make the first left turn on to Beech Forest Rd.
Please bring a copy of your letter with you for verification on the date of the hunt. (Electronic is acceptable.)
We hope you have a safe and successful hunting season at Patuxent Research Refuge. If you have any questions or need additional information, please call 301-328-1518.
